What is Balabolka? Balabolka is a text-to-speech (TTS} application. All computer generated voices available on your machine are already available as text to the user. The text can either be stored as a file directly, or be read from a clip-streamed file saved in your hard drive.
The application can also read the clipboard contents, extract text out of various documents, modify the font and background colour and even control reading from the built-in system tray, or via the external hotkeys or the global hotstrings. The text-to-speech engine that Balabolka uses is Microsoft speech API. Balabolka uses the Mspanish language translator tool to turn text into spoken words. If you are not using any particular application or web service to connect with a web server, Balabolka can use the Internet Protocol (IP) address to connect to any IP-based host. Balabolka also connects to the host using the standard Internet dial up connection.
To use balabolka, you need to download and install the text-to-speech software on your computer first. Balabolka will scan your computer and detect all the files that have text-to-speech components and assign them an appropriate voice. You can then choose what features you want and press start to run balabolka. Balancing the speed with high quality is one of the main objectives of this software.
The application allows you to view all the files that are stored in your computer in three tabs. The top tab displays the current state of your selected file, the next tab displays the start and end times when the captured audio was recorded, the last tab displays the transferred audio and finally, the bottom left corner displays the saved link to the Microsoft speech recognition engine. From the above picture, it is easy to see how balabolka works. By selecting the tab that displays the current state of your selected file, you will be able to listen to the text-to-speech file immediately after it has been converted to an mp3 format.
A text-to-speech software such as balabolka will work only if you have already created or saved a good Russian word translation file before you start using balabolka to read text aloud. Creating a word list is not necessary in case you do not have a ready-made database. You should open a new project in Microsoft Word, select a template and fill in the blanks. The rest of the work is left in the hands of the software.
Creating a database to store your translated information is an optional step. It is possible to find free text-to-speech services on the net. A word processing application, however, is more convenient for keeping track of the frequency and pronunciation of your selected Russian word. If you prefer to create and store your own database, you can create a text-to-speech TTS list using one of the available language files or by using a special database application.
One feature that most balabolka-to-read text applications have is an external dictionary. This is basically an inbuilt dictionary that can be accessed by every balancer application. In case you do not want to use a special word processor for storing the dictionary, you can access a special Google speech API. The Google speech API provides a wide range of databases including specialized ones for learning languages such as Russian, English, German and Spanish. These databases are updated regularly and thus contain more synonyms and affinities for every Russian word.
To download all the available balabolka audio files and to synchronize them with your text-to-speech application, connect to your internet-connected computer with your personal sound recorder (such as USB).
